Biography

1991-1997

In 1991-1996 - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Ogonyok magazine.

From August 1995 to August 1996 - General Director of the Ogonyok closed joint-stock company.

During the 1996 presidential campaign, he was part of the campaign headquarters of Boris Yeltsin. On August 13, 1996 , he was appointed adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on interaction with the media. He held this post until February 1997.

1997-1998

In 1997-1998, he was the head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation.

2020: Obtaining a stake in MTS

On July 8, 2020, it became known that Valentin Yumashev received a stake in MTS. The fact that a member of the board of directors of MTS and the former head of the presidential administration became a minority shareholder of a telecommunications company is stated in the materials.

Interfax, citing this document, reports that from July 8, 2020, Yumashev owns 0.0009% of MTS, the shares were provided as remuneration for the performance of the duties of a member of the board of directors in the 2019-2020 corporate year.

The authorized capital of MTS is divided into 1 billion 998 million 381 thousand 575 ordinary shares with a par value of 0.1 rubles. each. Thus, Yumashev received 18,363 MTS shares, the total value can be estimated at 5.86 million rubles, given that by the close of the Moscow Exchange on July 8, 2020, the company's quotation rate was 319.1 rubles, the agency notes.

By July 9, 2020, Valentin Yumashev has been a member of the MTS Board of Directors for a little over a year. On June 25, the company approved an updated board of directors, in which he retained his position.

Yumashev is an adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on a voluntary basis, a member of the board and an adviser to the Presidential Center B. N. Yeltsin Foundation, as well as an adviser to the office of the general director of Millhouse LLC, which manages the assets of Roman Abramovich and his partners.[1]

2022: Confirmation of Independent Director Status

On June 24, 2022, MTS PJSC announced the decisions of the Board of Directors of MTS PJSC adopted at the meeting. It was decided to confirm the status of an independent director for Valentin Yumashev. Read more here.

Family

Since 2002, married a second marriage to Tatyana Dyachenko, daughter of former President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin. In this marriage, a daughter, Maria, was born.
